On the 1851 census of Lochans, Maybole Agnes Crawford is living with her grandparents William and Jane Wilson, she is 3 years old and born in Maybole
Agnes died 27 June 1855, Nielshawston Hill
On her death record she is listed as the daughter of Jane Wilson and David Crawford, age 7 years and 2 months, she is living at Lochans of Radbrae, Maybole. She died of Pthisis Poliomyelitis (asthma) and is buried in the Churchyard in Maybole.
Her parents never married and she was being raised by her grandparents.

1. William Piper, born at Grimment in the Maybole Parish on the 8th of March 1851 and died March 18th 1914 in Sorn. information in blog Piper list. My Great Grandfather
2. James Piper the lawful son of James Piper, Ploughman Pleasantfield Cot house by Ayr and Jean Wilson his spouse was born 4th october 1853 and baptized by Rev W.Wallace Dalrymple.
James, a 21 year old blacksmith, married Elizabeth McClure 23 July 1875 in Ayr, Ayrshire
1881 census Family consists of James 26, Elizabeth 28, Jessie 8, Mary 5, James 3 and William 1.
James, a 37 year old Railway Guard, died 2 March 1891 in Ayr County Hospital . Cause of death was Crush of forearm amputation and traumatic fever for 6 days
1891 census Family consists of Elizabeth 38, William 11, Jane 9, Elizabeth 6, John 3 and Robert 1.(son James age 13 is living with his grandfather James in Mauchline)
1901 census Family consists of Lizzie 47, James 23, Jane 19, Lizzie 16, John 13, Robert 11 and grandson James Clement 1
3. John Piper was born the 18th of December 1855 in Ayr, Ayrshire his father was James Piper a ploughman and his mother was Jean Piper M.S. Wilson
John, a 45 year old, single, labourer died 23 Nov 1902 on Glasgow and Southwestern Railway near Mauchline Station,. His usual residence was Mill Street Catrine. His cause of death is listed as Temporary Insanity leading evidently to suicide. The informant was his brother Archibald.
4. Jane Piper was born the 4th of April 1858 at Wealth-O-Waters, Sorn, Ayrshire her father was by then a blacksmith.
Jane was a housekeeper for her father, on July 12, 1879 Jane has an illegitimate daughter named Margaret Jane Piper, sometimes called Margaret Drummond on the census.
On October 17, 1882 another illegitimate daughter named Jessie Piper was born.
In 1901 Jane married Hugh Kay in Mauchline
1901 census consists of Hugh age 40 and Jane Kay age 39
1911 census Hugh was age 50, a tinsmith for Cotton Works, Jane was 51, married 10 years and no children from this marriage.Living with them was Jane's daughter Jessie Piper age 28, a cashier for Cotton Bleaching Works. Also a grandson James P. McEwen age 6
Jane Piper Kay died on 24th June 1933 in Catrine, she was 75 years old and died from disease of the heart.
On October 17, 1882 another illegitimate daughter named Jessie Piper was born.

5. Archibald Piper born 29 April 1860 in Auchmillan, Mauchline, Ayrshire
He married Marion Young Miller 25 January 1902, Wetston, Ochiltree. Archibald was a Master Blacksmith son of James Piper and Jane Wilson. Marion was a Dairymaid, daughter of John Millar and Margaret Stirling.
Archibald died 11 Dec 1930 Ochiltree, Ayrshire of Failure of the heart.
This is the uncle that taught my grandfather, Archibald Piper 1887-1964, the blacksmith trade.
A granddaughter of Archibald and Marion immigrated to Manitoba, Canada
6. Janet Piper born 1862 August 3rd in Mauchline, Ayrshire
1981 census is age 19 born Mauchline servant in Sorn for James Sloan
1885 April 2 Janet married John Lymburner in Mauchline, Ayrshire
They had a son Archibald Lynburner born 28 Nov 1885 in Sorn
A son James Piper Lymburner born 2 Dec 1887 in Sorn
Janet died 6 Jan 1888 in Sorn from Septicemia, a severe infection, probably related to childbirth.

Jean Wilson Piper died 9 January 1866 at 1:00pm at Auchmillan, Mauchline at age 40. She was the wife of James Piper, Blacksmith. The daughter of William Wilson, weaver and Jean Wilson maiden name Abot. The cause of death was Chronic Diarrhea 9 months. Informant James Piper, husband.
